Summer in The City: Dressing Up Jeans

These Madewell skinnies are quickly becoming my staple pair. The medium rise, sliced knees, and frayed ankle is everything I look for in a pair of denim.

Here's a look from The Village in August. It was pretty chilly so this pairing can easily transfer to fall. A smart blazer will dress up even the most destroyed pair of jeans, so it's good to invest in a high quality jacket. This Joie jacket I snagged from the summer sale for a good price. Sadly, it's cream linen so there's only a few more days I'll be able to wear it.

The weather is cooling down each day Richmond and the fall equinox is this weekend. Stay tuned for the fall posts to come.

Shibuya Crossing

I’m back from the other side of the earth in one piece. My first time in Asia was spent in Japan with my two best friends. Staying in inner Tokyo was such an amazing experience. By the end, we knew our way around like locals.

On our first day we decided to go to the main shopping attraction-- Shibuya. This is the classic “scramble crossing” image most people get when picturing Tokyo. To say it was crazy would be an understatement.

I’ve never seen so many people in one place at one time. It was major culture shock being in the largest city in the world and at the center of over 33 million people.

We aimlessly circled department stores like the famous 109, where employees stand on a soapbox and shout at the top of their lungs to draw in customers to the 20-minute time sales. With my petite frame perfect for Asian brands, I was in heaven.

After shopping, we went to get Ramen at Ichiran were the noodles are ordered through a kiosk at the entrance and then delivered to you through a window at your barstool. Ending all interaction with wait staff.

The combination of culture shock and jet lag made the first day feel like a strange dream. However, as you will see in posts to come, I began to love the different culture Japan offers.

Grad Party Hopping: Day Two

F21 Dress // Eva & Zoe Sandals // Ray Ban Sunnies // Louis Vuitton Speedy // Vintage Necklace

The second round of grad parties and Father's Day dinner pushed me to wear this new white tunic dress from Forever 21. It's a little more girly than I normally would go for, but I think I'm starting to warm up to my feminine side.

The weather was perfectly sunny and breezy, let's hope it stays nice tomorrow for my graduation. Wish me luck on not tripping on the stage.

Soludos for spring

Ahhh, spring is in the air. Well, there's still snow melting on the ground, but for the time being we have warm weather.

Today was perfect for debuting my new Soludos. I bought them for my upcoming trip to France (which I am so excited about), but I figured I would wear them before to break them in.

I think I'll need a shoe insert for them because they don't have much support for my flat feet. I do like how they are very casual and summery. I opted for the canvas derby model with the laces because I already have toms. They do come in some cute colors and prints, but I decided to leave those for my next pair.

I hope all my East Coasters and enjoying this nice weather. I can't wait for more days like this to come.

Canadian Tuxedo

Equipment Top  // Vintage Denim Jacket // Hudson Jeans  // Target Sunnies // Casio Watch // Etsy and South Moon Under Bracelets //

Cue the very long apology with many explanations and excuses... Well, I am sorry for not updating these past weeks. It's been stressful with exams and getting into shape for summer. I haven't been really inspired in a while so I chose not to post outfits I wasn't in love with.

This all changed when I started pinning all denim ensembles. I just love the Canadian Tuxedo look that Justin Timberlake made so famous at the 2001 AMAs with Brittany Spears.

Now I know plenty of magazine articles that say never to match the same color denim together; but, you know me.. I always love to break the rules

Since this is a spring/summer trend, I only got to try it out today when the weather was mild... but snow still remains on the ground. Ugh.

Hope you all had a wonderful valentines day, I know I did. I will try to keep the posts more constant, just be on the look out.

All White On The Beach

The first week of the new year I'm currently spending down in South Beach. My grandparents live close by so it's an easy destination for my family. Sadly, the weather hasn't been ideal for Miami, but it is way better than the 23 degree weather at home.

The grey weather does compliment my all-white ensemble perfectly, if I do say so myself. In the first picture my pose is very Chiara Ferragni  isn't it?

I hope your first week of the year is going well. Stay tuned, yet again, for my new year's resolution post. I have come up with my resolution, but I need to think about how I'm going to frame it in a post.

Mod Biker

Twas the last week of school before winter break, so I decided to wear some pieces that haven't seen the outside of my closet in a while. This Zara white skort is not something I consider a winter item. However, I felt appropriate paring it with all black. I felt very mod today wearing all black with a pop of white. Someone pointed out to me that my skort looked like a napkin... which surprisingly it does.

As the week carries on, I'm getting excited to go to Miami to see my grandparents over break. Hopefully the weather will be warm because it can get pretty windy there in the winter...maybe you'll see a summery outfit including this skort, if the weather permits.

What are you doing for the holidays?

Snow Day

Again, I feel horrible about neglecting you all recently. It's only been a week, but I know that's a long time in the blog world. I was sick the majority of my absence. When I say sick, I mean it. I don't need to go into detail, but I'm currently on two sets of antibiotics..

Good thing is I'm at the end of my sickness and I'm only plagued with an occasional, ugly sounding cough and the sniffles. With the bad luck I've been having, I should probably get my flu shot ASAP.

I got the day off from school due to the fast falling snow that coated the ground quickly this morning. It was the perfect back-drop for showing you all my new menswear inspired coat from J.Crew.

On top of this day off I have a job interview. I think this outfit is perfect for interviewing because it is smart looking with the menswear coat, yet still playful with the stacked bracelets and layered necklaces.

What's the weather like where you live?

Double Breasted = Sea Captain. Right?

"Ahoy Mateys!" Is the phrase my jacket would say right? No? Well, I didn't see a sea captain look when I bought this jacket, but today a classmate kindly pointed that out. And the clicking of my heeled boots- well obviously that says I'm a teacher to another classmate. "Get back to class!"

I don't try to dress up as a sea captain or a teacher, it just happens. I put together an outfit on the basis that I like how it looks. I don't do it to impress people or shock them. So If I'm doing it for myself, why do I always get comments?

"Excuse me, who asked for your opinion?" Always runs through my mind when a comment is said about my outfit. It's not that the person meant to be hurtful or embarrass me, but it always seems to put me on edge. I guess all the bullies in middle school taught me to always be on my guard.

Comments about my outfits are said a lot to me, not in a nice way either: "In that outfit, you look like a (insert rude noun)." Hey, I wasn't going for that look, but thanks anyways. Maybe I'm too sensitive, but when it's said daily I'm going to get a bit sassy.

Next time try to look at me without comparing me. I appreciate compliments, so take a tip from these olive Theory trousers (which compliment my hair color nicely).  I'm just a chick in a double breasted jacket with "clickety- clack" booties, that's all.
